ABOUT THE WORKS

BIOBASED RESIN

My sculptures are created from bio-based resin, a material that often arouses curiosity because it resembles glass but is much lighter and more flexible to shape.

The bio-based resin I use is made from raw materials primarily derived from waste from third-generation resources and plant-based material. The material also requires significantly less energy to produce than traditional resins. The resin is manufactured in France by a family-owned company under energy-saving conditions before finding its way to my studio in Aarhus.

This is where the slow part begins.

Each piece is created without the use of energy. No heat, no mechanical acceleration. Only time, hands, and the material's own will. This results in a 2-3 week process, allowing the shapes to emerge organically, and the surfaces to bear traces of movement rather than perfection. I believe this can be seen and felt.

It's about making responsible choices, creating slowly, and letting the material tell its own story. Each object bears traces of the process and the conscious decisions behind it. It is precisely there, I believe, that aesthetics and thoughtfulness meet.

THE THOUGHTS BEHIND

The creation takes place in a step-by-step process, where the material must be mixed and allowed to harden over several rounds. The shaping of the sculptures is crucial to their unique expression, and is where the design really comes into its own!

Everyone also has a certificate with the exact measurements and numbering.

Slow creation process

The material is unpredictable; it almost has a life of its own. Part of the challenge has been learning patience with it, as it doesn't always behave as expected.

The curing time changes with temperature and seasons, so it must be treated like a living, organic material. Before it cures, the patterns are brushed on so I can control how the layers develop and create the beautiful effects you see in the pictures. But this unpredictability is precisely what makes the work so fascinating and vibrant.

Light is an incredibly mood-enhancing element, and while working with the pattern, we discovered how beautifully it stands out in sunlight. The light nature of the material allows us to create the illusion of a soft cloud, even though it is actually a solid object.
